The petitioners claim that the criteria were artificially tailored while silencing the positions of the Tax Authority and the Budget Department, which opposed the move.

This is the first approval of its kind since the signing of the Hebron Agreement in 1997, under which restrictions related to the Jewish community were subject to approval by the Hebron municipality.

The settlement will be located east of Kibbutz Sa’ad in the Gaza Envelope and will fall under the jurisdiction of the Sdot Negev Regional Council.

"As a firm supporter of the two-state solution, Singapore opposes any unilateral attempts to change facts on the ground through acts which are illegal under international law," it said.
