Menashe Kadishman

Menashe Kadishman (1932-2015) was an Israeli sculptor and painter. He is considered the most widely acclaimed Israeli artist. Kadishman was awarded first prize for sculpture from the Paris Biennale (1967). From the 1970's and onwards he increasingly focused on painting. His style was characterized by a highly expressive and passionate tone. His sheep portraits have become a hallmark of his work, along with other subjects such as birth, death the binding motif in Jewish story. Kadishman is an Israeli Nobel Prize laureate for sculpture (1995).
