Pro-Palestinian protests

Anti-Zionist actor Susan Sarandon said she is still losing work over her outspoken support for Palestinians and criticism of Israel.

Mahdawi is a Columbia graduate student and prominent pro-Palestinian campus activist who originally moved to the United States from the West Bank as a student, became a lawful permanent resident.

Venice4Palestine collective, an anti-Israel activist group, published a letter calling on the Venice International Film Festival and the rest of the film industry to condemn Israel.

The judge said that in the United States, free speech, including the freedom to criticize the government and its leaders, was evidence of the strength of the country's democracy.

Earlier in the week, footage circulated on social media from Sunday’s demonstration by the same speaker, who said that Zionists rape, kill, and eat children.

They insist it is possible, indeed necessary, to be both pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian because the two peoples are bound together. On the surface, this sounds reasonable. 

This “anti-Zionism” is actually pure and plain antisemitism, not a political protest or a criticism of Israel’s policies or Israel’s government. None of those attacked are asked about their politics.

Megan Romer addressed the organization’s geopolitical stance, saying that any US defense or economic support for Israel represents a “solid red line” for the DSA.

The group's online posts framed the incident as a form of direct action against military supply chains and described themselves as a “group taking direct action to stop the UK-Israel weapons trade.“

The arrests come amid heightened tensions over recurring protests at the intersection of Bathurst Street and Sheppard Avenue West.
