Nuclear talks with iran

Tehran, long adept at delaying diplomacy while advancing its nuclear program, had assumed 2025 would play out like previous rounds. But this time, the Islamic Republic misjudged.

This comes after the US president said that diplomatic talks with Iran could resume this week, though the White House noted that no talks were scheduled.

The decision was made because the agency's Director-General, Rafael Grossi, facilitated a resolution against the Islamic Republic by the IAEA's Board of Governors that was "politically motivated."

With Iran's nuclear program hit by airstrikes, it's in the interest of both Israel and the US to portray the strikes as successful.

Saudi Arabia is also working behind the scenes to promote a ceasefire framework, a source told The Jerusalem Post.

Over 150 Israelis were wounded overall in the Iranian missile barrages, according to official statements from numerous Israeli hospitals.

Sources told ABC that the US could play a logistical role, including through intelligence sharing with Israel.

Iran is now enriching uranium to up to 60% fissile purity, close to the 90% of weapons-grade, at two sites, and has enough material if enriched further for six bombs, believes the IAEA.

Grossi has - though slowly - demanded answers from Iran to explain illicit nuclear materials and refusing to accept partial answers that he called "not credible."

Iran, amid US domestic turmoil and new sanctions, is prioritizing ties with Europe, Egypt, and Arab states, while leveraging nuclear talks and intelligence to pressure the US and isolate Israel.
