The US on Tuesday sued former national security adviser John Bolton, seeking to block him from publishing a book about his time in the White House that it said contained classified information.

Lewis, a congressman from the state from 2017-2019, hopes to win the GOP primary in Minnesota to face off against incumbent Democratic Sen. Tina Smith.

"With this GoFundMe, we will deliver an #ImpeachmentCake to every Republican Senator's office. Written in the frosting will be a simple message: Let Bolton Testify!"

Trump has repeatedly denied that there was quid pro quo and implored that people "read the transcripts" of the phone call.

In a statement, an attorney for Bolton suggested that the Times’ account was accurate and said he had submitted Bolton's book manuscript to the National Security Council on December 30.

Bolton strongly objected to an effort by Trump's personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, to pressure Kiev outside of regular diplomatic channels, according to witnesses

Bolton sent an email to subscribers on Sunday, asking supporters to contribute to the institution, citing what he described as censorship in social media.

"In full disclosure, the @WhiteHouse never returned access to my Twitter account. Thank you to @twitter for standing by their community standards and rightfully returning control of my account."

Trump fired Bolton from office, after he made it clear that he was "strongly opposed" to much of his proposals. However, Bolton later insisted that he resigned and was not ousted.
