The demonstrations come amid heightened tensions surrounding the state’s policies on military conscription and ongoing failures in the rehabilitation of wounded veterans.

A flyer distributed ahead of the protest invites eligible participants to bring their draft notices and register at the event in order to enter the raffle.

"The State of Israel has declared war on Torah scholars. The Haredi community will launch a global battle like no other,” the leaders of the Haredi community said.

These soldiers will continue to serve in their units as they have so far. For those still in training or yet to be enlisted, the service extension will be phased in gradually.

The IDF has sent out 80,000 draft orders to haredi men and is preparing for large-scale arrest operations nationwide, in coordination with the Israel Police.

Moshe Sheli, father of late Major Ben Sheli, addressed the urgent need for a broader military draft across the Israeli population during an interview, stating, “Our role is to make sure it happens.”

"This law ends the phenomenon of pretending to study Torah. To me, that’s a disgrace to the world of Torah," Edelstein told Maariv.
