All of this was taking place just as Jerusalem and Beirut kicked off another round of direct talks in Washington addressing a wide range of issues.

At the onset of the talks, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said that his government would “accept nothing less than the end of the Israeli occupation in southern Lebanon.”

A small number of Moroccan planning officers have already arrived to take part in discussions related to the future International Stabilization Force for Gaza (ISF).

Israel believes that transferring the responsibility to Lebanon’s army could serve as a test of its ability and willingness to act against Hezbollah, said N12.

An earlier report from LBCI claimed that the US had notified Lebanon that Israel was planning to withdraw some troops as a “goodwill gesture” ahead of Israel-Lebanon negotiations.

Forty-five years of trying to defeat Hezbollah alone have produced failure. The time has come to turn Hezbollah from Israel’s problem into an international one.
