Every woman carries a small bag – and now men understand why. This insight came from a man who was shocked after trying on a pair of women’s pants and discovering how small their pockets are compared to those made for men.
Men have likely heard women complain at least once about the size of their pockets or even the absence of pockets in their pants. While men’s pants generally have several deep pockets for carrying a phone, wallet, keys, and other daily essentials, women often need to carry a small handbag to hold these items.
Although handbags are fashionable accessories that suit many styles, there is no doubt that women should also be able to leave the house without one. Nick Wilkins, an American man, was skeptical about how serious this issue really was, so he decided to investigate for himself. He uploaded a TikTok video where he tried on women’s pants to see just how small the pockets were. At the start of the video, he explained that he wanted to try on women’s pants after hearing many women complain about their tiny pockets, while holding a pair of blue jeans.
Shortly after putting on the jeans, he noted how well they fit. He questioned how the pants looked so good on him, while holding his phone, wallet, and keys. He mentioned that he usually carries these items in his pockets and planned to see if he could fit them into the pants’ pockets without difficulty.
He first tried the regular front pocket, explaining that this was where he would normally put his phone. However, he quickly realized that he couldn’t even fit half the phone into the pocket due to its small size. Shocked by how little the pocket could hold, he tried the front pocket on the other side and found it was the same size.
He then said he finally understood why women carry bags, as his phone and wallet stuck out of the front pockets. He also discovered that dresses don’t have pockets either. Turning to the camera, he suggested that people who design women’s pants should start making the pockets deeper.
At the end of the video, he surprisingly commented that the jeans really flattered his butt.
The video was viewed by no less than 8 million people and received many comments. Some viewers pointed out that some women’s pants have fake pockets. Others shared a conspiracy theory that the pockets are made small on purpose to encourage women to buy bags. Another viewer mentioned that while it’s possible to put a phone in the back pockets, she’s always worried about theft and has to remove the phone before sitting. One person shared how excited she was to buy cargo pants with many pockets, only to find out later that all the pockets were fake.
