Members of the Israeli cabinet, governing coalition, and opposition member Benny Gantz denounced the booing of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's name during US envoy Steve Witkoff's speech at Hostage Square on Saturday.

Diaspora Affairs and Combatting Antisemitism Minister Amichai Chikli (Likud) denounced the hostage protests as "demoralizing" and alleging that Netanyahu's family has been harassed by activists.

Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana (Likud) affirmed his view that Netanyahu has the toughest and most thankless job in the world.

Former defense minister and IDF chief of staff Blue and White party leader MK Benny Gantz also denounced the booing of Netanyahu's name.

"Even when there are differences of opinion, to shout boos at the Prime Minister of Israel, in front of the American government envoy and in the presence of the hostages' families - that is a mistake. Not today, and not in front of these people," Gantz said.

"I am certain that these shouts do not represent the majority of the people of Israel, nor the majority of those present in the square," he added.

Education Minister Yoav Kisch (Likud) said that those who booed should be ashamed, and that they "revealed their true faces" in this "disgrace."

"Hatred drives these people out of their minds," Kisch added, affirming his view that these "extreme fringes" do not represent the majority of Israeli people, who "support the agreement and are grateful" to Netanyahu and Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer for reaching the agreement.

"There is no limit to the shame, hatred, and disgrace that occurred this evening in Hostage Square," Innovation, Science, and Technology Minister Gila Gamliel (Likud) said.

"It was proven again this evening that the hatred for Netanyahu among those who booed is more important than the return of the hostages. This could have been an evening of unity," she added.

Environmental Protection Minister Idit Silman (Likud) thanked Netanyahu for his role in reaching a ceasefire and hostage release agreement, insinuating that this came "despite the anger and fury of those who did cynical politics on the backs of the hostages."

'Disgust, revulsion, and shame'

"Disgust, revulsion, and shame. This is what I feel toward the left-wing protesters this evening, who have long been preoccupied solely with slandering the right-wing government based on blatant and ever-changing lies." MK Tally Gotliv (Likud) said.

"So once again, Likud ministers are busy wagging their fingers at half a million citizens who have been standing by the families of the hostages for two years now. It's time for them to understand that in a democracy, it works the other way around," Democrats MK Gilad Kariv said in response to the criticism.
