One person was killed during a shooting at Kentucky State University in Frankfort on Tuesday, police said.

The suspected shooter was apprehended by police and is now in custody.

The police did not immediately share the shooter's identity, but a report by The New York Times revealed that he wasn't a student at the university.

The report, which cited a university spokesperson, also confirmed that the two victims were students at Kentucky State University.

Kentucky State University, a historically Black school, declined to comment but confirmed it would release a statement later on Tuesday, Reuters reported.

This is a developing story.
