After climbing this year to sixth place among Israel’s best-selling models with around 3,000 units sold since the beginning of 2026, the Chery Tiggo 7 is receiving another new version aimed directly at the market’s most significant segment today.
Following the gasoline and plug-in hybrid variants, the Chinese crossover now receives a conventional hybrid version that cannot be charged from a power socket. It will compete against popular models such as the hybrid versions of the Hyundai Kona, Toyota Corolla Cross, and Kia Niro. A similar version is also expected to arrive for the Jaecoo 7 in the coming months.
The 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, combined with an electric motor, produces 246 horsepower, compared to 347 horsepower in the plug-in hybrid version. According to manufacturer data, the new model delivers combined fuel consumption of 17.5 kilometers per liter, compared to 42 km/l in the plug-in version. Acceleration from 0–100 km/h takes 8.7 seconds, compared with 8.4 seconds in the plug-in hybrid version, thanks to a weight reduction of around 200 kilograms.
The Tiggo 7 Hybrid will be marketed in two trim levels:
Comfort (starting at NIS 160,000): 12.3-inch multimedia display and a digital instrument cluster of the same size, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, climate control with rear-seat air vents, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, synthetic leather upholstery, sunroof, six-speaker audio system, electrically folding side mirrors, and parking sensors.
Luxury (NIS 168,000) adds an eight-speaker Sony sound system, wireless smartphone charging, electric tailgate opening, and memory settings for the driver’s seat.
Safety: The Tiggo 7 has not yet been tested under the European crash test program. Safety equipment includes seven airbags, autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist and lane departure correction, blind-spot monitoring, safe exit warning, child reminder alert, and driver attention monitoring.
Warranty: Six years or 150,000 km for the vehicle, and eight years or 160,000 km for the battery.
The Tiggo 7 Hybrid will be significantly cheaper than the Corolla Cross (starting at NIS 180,000), the Kona (from NIS 177,000), and the Niro (from NIS 179,000), but its rivals offer better fuel economy figures under the same testing standard: 22.7 km/l for Hyundai, 21.7 km/l for Kia, and 20 km/l for Toyota.
