FRIDAY, JUNE 13

Visit the Jerusalem Cinematheque to enjoy a tribute to Jack Lemmon with a screening of the 1960 Billy Wilder comedy film The Apartment.

An average Joe (Lemmon) is bullied by his overbearing boss to allow the latter to hook up with his lover in said employee’s apartment.

Played by Shirley MacLaine, the woman attempts to take her own life there.

What begins as a funny film about human weaknesses takes a sharp turn and becomes something much more powerful: a depiction of the importance of dignity and self-esteem.

6:30 p.m. Jerusalem Cinematheque, 11 Hebron Road. NIS 43. Call (02) 565-4333 to book.
