US President Donald Trump stated that his administration is watching Iran very closely during comments aboard Air Force One on Thursday.

The president added that he threatened Iran with US airstrikes if the Islamic Republic's regime carried out hangings of protesters and political dissidents as planned, and Tehran backed down as a result.

Trump also warned the Iranian regime that the US has "a massive armada" heading in their direction.

He also threatened that the administration would set a 25% tariff on anyone dealing with Iran. This will take effect "very soon," he warned.

Trump calls for investigation into Ilhan Omar's wealth

Trump, in a post on Truth Social, called for authorities to investigate Rep. Ilhan Omar's wealth, alleging that she is "worth over $30 million," and that "there is no way such wealth could have been accumulated, legally, while being paid the salary of a politician."

"She should be investigated for Financial and Political Crimes, and that investigation should start, NOW!" he wrote.

Trump discusses Venezuela, Ukraine-Russia War, Gaza Board of Peace, China, US midterms

Trump also addressed other issues during the press conference aboard Air Force One, including Venezuela, Russia-Ukraine, the Gaza Board of Peace, and US midterms, which are scheduled for later this year.

US oil companies will soon start drilling for oil in Venezuela, even as companies expressed concern about the viability of quickly returning to the country, he said, adding that he spoke with Nobel Peace Prize laureate and Venezuelan opposition figure, Maria Corina Machado, earlier in the day.

Italy needs approval from its legislative branch to join the Gazan Board of Peace initiative aimed at resolving global conflicts.

Trump also said Russian President Vladimir Putin will join the peace board and contribute $1 billion. "I think it's important to have everybody," he told reporters.

Both Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky have said they would like to make a deal to end the nearly four-year-old war, he added.

Earlier in the day, Trump met Zelenskiy on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Switzerland.

Trump also said he would visit China in April, and Chinese President Xi Jinping would travel to the United States toward the end of 2026.

"I look forward to seeing President Xi," he said. "I've always had a great relationship (with) President Xi of China."

Trump said ties between the world's two largest economies became strained during the COVID pandemic, but had improved significantly since. He said China was now buying large quantities of US soybeans, which was good for US farmers.

He also said that he plans to hit the campaign trail extensively this year as Republicans gear up for the November midterm elections.

"I'm gonna do a lot of campaign traveling," he told reporters.

The president also cautioned that "sitting presidents don't seem to do well during the midterms."

Trump attributes new bruise on hand to aspirin consumption

Trump blamed a noticeable bruise on his left hand on his high intake of aspirin.

The bruise appeared after he bumped a table at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One as he returned to the US. His aspirin dosage makes him bruise easily, Trump said.

“They say take aspirin if you like your heart, but don’t take aspirin if you don’t want to have a little bruising. I take the big aspirin,” Trump said.

“The doctor said, ‘You don’t have to take that, sir. You’re very healthy.’ I said, 'I’m not taking any chances,'” Trump added.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement that Trump hit his hand on the corner of the signing table during his Board of Peace announcement.

Four doctors, two surgeons, and two internists, who spoke to Reuters, agreed it was possible that aspirin contributed to the bruising.

Trump said in a Wall Street Journal interview earlier this month that he takes a larger daily dose of aspirin than his doctors recommend because he wants “nice, thin blood pouring through my heart.”

Last summer, Leavitt told reporters the hand bruising was from shaking so many hands.

Trump, 79, is the second-oldest person to ever hold the presidency, following his Democratic predecessor, president Joe Biden, who dropped his 2024 reelection bid amid questions about his fitness for the job and left office a year ago at 82.
