Palestinian Authority Vice President Hussein al-Sheikh met with former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair in Ramallah on Sunday.
In the meeting, the two discussed issues related to the “day after” the war in Gaza, as well as issues related to the West Bank and Palestinian statehood, Sheikh wrote in a X/Twitter post.
The meeting follows the UN Security Council vote to back US President Donald Trump’s Gaza ceasefire plan.
“I commended the efforts of President Trump and all the mediators and partners – Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, the United States, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, and the partners from the European Union and its member states – in consolidating the ceasefire, facilitating the entry of humanitarian aid, reconstruction, and moving toward the making of peace, security, and stability,” he wrote.
The vice president noted that the meeting was attended by other Palestinian officials, namely General Intelligence Service Chief Major General Majed Faraj, Diplomatic Affairs Advisor Dr. Majdi AlKhalidi, and Presidential Spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudainah.
