Yemen's Houthis will target US ships in the Red Sea if Washington becomes involved in Israeli attacks on Iran, the group's military spokesperson said on Saturday.

"Any US aggression or attack in support of the Israeli enemy against Iran serves this goal and therefore cannot go unanswered. Remaining silent would mean surrendering the freedom and dignity of the [Islamic] nation and allowing its wealth to be plundered," the Houthi statement said. "This is a battle for the entire nation and a salvation for all its people>"

In May, the US and the Houthis agreed to a ceasefire under which neither side would target the other. This came after Trump decided to repeatedly target the Houthis.

This announcement came amid the ninth day of the Israel-Iran War. Notably, US President Donald Trump has given mixed signals in his willingness to strike Tehran.

“There’s a big difference between now and a week ago,” he told reporters. “Nobody knows what I’m going to do.”

Iran threatens attacks on US bases as Israeli officials push US to join strikes

However, Israeli officials have pushed for the US to join strikes on different Iranian sites.

Opposition leader MK Yair Lapid called for Trump to join the strikes.

“I trust [US] President [Donald] Trump to do what’s right for the US, but in talks with international officials and in the international press, I repeatedly say, ‘The US must join this battle.’ A nuclear Iran is a threat to the entire world, not just Israel,” Lapid said.

Iran has notably threatened to attack American bases in the Middle East if the United States joins Israel in strikes.
