Arab Israeli politicians praised New York mayoral elect Zohran Mamdani's victory in statements on Wednesday.

"Mamdani’s splendid success is the beginning of the road. This path must succeed to pave the way toward a more just world, and for this reason, Mamdani will face difficulties along the way, because enemies and friends alike know the meaning of his success and his path," MK Ayman Odeh (Hadash) wrote in a Facebook post.

"After September 11 in New York, there were those who led the 'clash of civilizations' in thought and practice, but the majority of the people of New York made their resounding statement and triumphed over racism in a defining moment, Mamdani’s moment. This is an additional and major reason why this choice must succeed, for Mamdani to succeed."

MK Ahmad Tibi (Ta’al) wrote that Mamdani was not afraid of AIPAC or big political money.

"Zohran Mamdani, the young Muslim who defeated the racists, political money, the enemies of Islam, and Trump, and who won the support of all sectors of the public in one of the most important cities in the world, New York. He was not afraid of AIPAC or its money; rather, he defeated AIPAC and its followers. Congratulations, onward."

MK Cassif calls Mamdani win a 'great day of hope'

“As a socialist and member of the Knesset, I would like to congratulate Zohran Mamdani for his brilliant victory," said MK Ofer Cassif (Hadash).

"This is a day of great hope for everyone in the world, not only in New York, but for everyone who supports and embraces liberty, equality, including, of course, economic and social equality, and justice, for all of us; that’s a brilliant day of hope.

“Those who smear and hate you and talk against you and are afraid of you are solely those who are afraid of justice. Those who do evil. It’s good they’re afraid. We’ll, I hope, give them a reason to be even more afraid in the future.

Earlier on Wednesday, several Israeli leaders decried Mamdani's win

Deputy Foreign Minister Sharren Haskel told The Jerusalem Post that Mamdani’s election “is deeply concerning given his history of anti-Israel and anti-Jewish rhetoric.”

“New York’s Jewish community deserves leaders who protect them, not target them.”
