IDF Intelligence (Aman) Chief Maj.-Gen. Shlomi Binder on Tuesday told his intelligence staff that they broke through Iranian defenses to pave the way to Tehran and to strike Iran's top military commanders.
He added that his intelligence staff's work will continue to break through and strike more sensitive Iranian targets in the near future.
He made his statement an hour after the IDF on Tuesday assassinated the replacement Iranian war-time chief of staff Ali Shademani - this only days after it assassinated his predecessor this past Friday.
As Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters commander, Shademani was "the most senior military commander, and the closest figure to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei," according to the IDF.
Khatam al-Anbiya is "responsible for managing combat operations and approving Iran’s firepower plans. In his various roles, he directly influenced Iran’s operational plans targeting the State of Israel," they added.
Binder warned of an existential campaign as Operation Rising Lion began on Friday
Binder said Friday that Israel is entering an “existential campaign” against Iran and Aman is operating at the highest level of readiness to disrupt Tehran’s nuclear and missile programs.
Speaking from the Israel Air Force’s underground command center following a simultaneous strike on senior Iranian military leadership, Binder praised the intelligence community for its role in identifying the threat and preparing for what comes next.
