Fauda, the Israeli TV series about a counterterrorism unit that became a worldwide sensation on Netflix, will be made into a movie, according to a report on the Channel 12 entertainment news show Good Evening with Guy Pines earlier this week.
The program reported that the series, which was created by Avi Issacharoff and Lior Raz (who also stars in it), will be adapted for the big screen next year.
Issacharoff and Raz are famous for being tight-lipped about everything to do with the series, and when Raz was interviewed by a Good Evening reporter earlier this week, he refused to comment on whether it would be made into a movie. However, he did not deny the report.
Fauda filming troubles
Fauda is currently filming its fifth season in Budapest after security threats forced it to move from Marseille. In the season five trailer, Eli (Yaakov Zada-Daniel), a member of the unit, says, “The Nukhba is located in Marseille.” There is a shot of the Marseille harbor and other references to France in the trailer, but it was not clear whether the actual story would shift to Hungary or whether Budapest would be filmed to look like Marseille.
The series had reportedly been ready to start filming a new season in 2023, but scrapped its proposed storyline after the October 7 Hamas massacre and the outbreak of the war.
Season 5 will introduce a new character played by French actress Mélanie Laurent, who starred in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds.
Fauda is shown in Israel on Yes and abroad on Netflix.
