El Al will operate its Tel Aviv-Eilat route for the first time in a decade this winter, the company announced on Tuesday.

The decision comes at the request of the Ministry of Transportation with the aim of increasing the frequency of flights from Eilat to central Israel.

Currently, only Israir and Arkia operate flights to Eilat. Initially, the route will operate only this winter. El Al will operate two daily flights on the Tel Aviv-Eilat route, one in the morning and one in the evening.

“I welcome El Al's decision to return and operate flights to Eilat for the first time in over a decade. This is an essential step for the proper functioning of the main transportation artery for the city's residents,” said Eilat Mayor Eli Lankri.

How much will it cost to fly to Eilat?

Tickets will be available starting at NIS 139 one-way for a LITE ticket, which includes a trolley and a backpack. Residents of Eilat and the Eilot region can get subsidized one-way tickets for NIS 99.

“El Al's return is part of a program we are advancing with government ministries to arrange regular, frequent flights at subsidized prices," Lankri added. "I thank the Minister of Transport and the El Al management for their partnership in strengthening connectivity and their commitment to the resilience of Eilat.”
