Police in the West Bank recovered a stolen vehicle on Tuesday night containing a large amount of Israeli military equipment, according to a Wednesday statement from the Israel Police Spokesperson's Unit.
The vehicle was stolen earlier that evening in the Pisgat Ze'ev neighborhood of Jerusalem from a resident on active duty in the IDF reserves. It contained a combat vest, several magazines, handgun holsters, and various tactical gear and personal items.
Police chase and arrest suspect near Hebron
Police noticed the stolen vehicle traveling on Highway 60 near Bani Naim, an Arab village near Hebron. The driver did not comply with the order to stop, prompting police to pursue the vehicle and physically block its path. The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was later caught and arrested.
The suspect, a man in his 20s, was arrested and transferred to the Hebron police station for further questioning.
The vehicle is expected to be returned to its owner on Wednesday evening, following a forensic examination.
This is the sixteenth case of vehicle theft resolved by Israel Police in the West Bank in recent weeks, according to the Tuesday statement. This included one instance of a car's Israeli license plates being replaced with Palestinian ones in an effort to conceal its "identity."
