Tel Aviv residents, including parents and their children, have alleged to have been harassed by a woman stripping and demanding money in exchange for reclothing herself, N12 reported on Sunday.
The woman, described as in her 40s, has allegedly been stripping in the streets and public parks.
"I was walking with my two children to Kiryat Sefer Park. Suddenly, she ran towards us naked," D., a resident of the city, told N12. "The children were very frightened. She asked for money so that she wouldn't undress again. It turns out that this has happened to other residents as well. This is a recurring phenomenon, and there is no solution."
G., another resident, explained, "It's an unreasonable situation that a woman undresses on the street and asks for money, in front of children and people. Some are afraid to approach her lest she claim to have been sexually harassed. The police and social services must find a solution as soon as possible."
Another witness told the media site that when people give her money out of pity, she uses it to purchase drugs.
Police have confirmed they are aware of the situation following calls from local residents and detained the woman for questioning, but she continued to strip after being released.
"We have tried to take action against her together with the welfare authorities, but so far without success," the police admitted. "The woman who was in drug rehab did not finish the process and returned to the streets. We are working with social services to find an appropriate response, but as of now, no solution has been found."
Earlier incident
The incidents follow a similar occurrence several months ago in the city, during which a woman stripped inside a restaurant and danced on tables after the restaurant’s patrons refused to give her money.
An indictment was filed against the woman from a few months ago, but she was released from custody.
