KAN 11 and KAN Box announced that documentary filmmaker Eyal Datz, who was aboard flydubai Flight 1073 with his 75-year-old father, Yaakov, is making a film about the flight’s dramatic ordeal and the experiences of its 174 Israeli passengers, who subdued a would-be hijacker and avoided tragedy.
The documentary will feature new passenger testimony and previously unreleased footage recorded aboard the plane and in Saudi Arabia, where it landed safely.
It will examine how passengers responded to a life-threatening situation and investigate the alleged failures that led to it.
Days after landing in Israel, Datz began interviewing fellow passengers about what they had experienced.

The film brings together accounts from Israelis of different backgrounds who suddenly found themselves sharing one goal: staying alive.
Datz’s previous documentaries for KAN include Something Spicy, Ten Days in October, and I Will Hide My Face. He also produced Ritual and Tomorrow Is Already Gone, which screened at festivals in Israel and abroad.
