An Israeli citizen was killed after a fall in the Swiss-Italian Alps in the border region, Israeli media reported on Monday.
The reports cited the town of Hurfeish, which announced the death of a 32-year-old resident, Alam Fares, in a Facebook post.
Hurfeish is a Druze town in the Upper Galilee, close to the Israel-Lebanon border.
"With deep sorrow and great pain, we received the difficult news of the untimely passing of the young man, Alam Amal Alam Al-Din Fares," read the post.
"Alam was killed during a trip to Switzerland, when he climbed a mountain and fell to his death," the post continued. "A dear young man, who had his whole life ahead of him, was taken in an instant, leaving behind a grieving family, shocked friends, and an entire village in mourning."
'There are no words'
"The heart is broken in the face of this terrible loss," the post added. "There are no words that can comfort parents, family, and relatives for such an early and painful separation."
"[The group] shares in the deep sorrow of the dear Fares family, hugs the residents of Hurfeish, and prays that God will grant the family strength, patience, and comfort at this difficult time," the post concluded.
