United States Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff and US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner are set to arrive in Israel to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday night, N12 News reported on Friday, citing Israeli sources.
According to N12, the three will discuss the implementation of phase two of Trump’s Gaza peace deal, the disarmament of Hamas, and the return of Ran Gvili, the final hostage whose remains still have not been returned to Israel from Gaza.
Witkoff and Kushner were present in the United Arab Emirates earlier on Friday for talks between US, Ukrainian, and Russian officials regarding the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
CENTCOM head to discuss Iran with Israeli officials
The head of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), General Brad Cooper, will also arrive in Israel on Saturday, according to Israeli public broadcaster KAN.
Cooper is expected to meet with senior Israeli officials to discuss the possibility of US intervention in Iranian anti-regime protests and the Iranian government’s violent crackdown on the protests.
Cooper’s visit comes as the US is in the process of moving multiple military assets, including the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, warships, several destroyers, and fighter aircraft, to the Middle East region.
On Thursday, Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One that the US has "a massive armada" headed to the Middle East, adding that his administration is watching Iran closely.
