Several Israeli civilians crossed the border from the Golan Heights into Syrian territory on Monday, the IDF said.

The civilians were recovered and transferred to Israel Police for further handling.

Israel Police later clarified that seven suspects were detained.

A security source stated that the individuals who tried to cross the border today also attempted to do so yesterday.

They were intercepted yesterday by IDF soldiers, who transferred them to the police, who released them later in the day.

Police are investigating and will consider requesting a hearing to extend the detention of the seven suspects.

The police also emphasized that crossing the border illegally is a "prohibited and dangerous serious criminal offense punishable by up to four years imprisonment."

This is a developing story.
