The US Ambassador to the UN, Mike Waltz, was welcomed in Israel by Israeli Ambassador Danny Danon on Monday.

“I was pleased to welcome Ambassador Mike Waltz on his first visit to Israel as the US Ambassador to the UN,” Danon wrote on X/Twitter. “In the face of terror and de-legitimization, the strategic partnership between Israel and the US remains steadfast.”

Mike Waltz's plans during his December Israel visit

Waltz crossed into Israel after visiting neighboring Jordan, according to his social media account.

“Quite moving to cross the Allenby-King Hussein Bridge from Jordan into Israel, where I’m looking forward to important conversations with our Israeli partners,” he wrote. “Under @POTUS’ leadership, U.S. commitment to Israel’s security remains iron-clad — our cooperation has never been more vital.”

During his visit to the Jewish state, Waltz is expected to meet with senior officials for consultations in Jerusalem, and attend briefings by the defense establishment on the eastern, northern, and southern fronts.

The visit comes amid intensive UN deliberations on post-war arrangements for Gaza, including US-backed proposals for an international stabilization force and related ceasefire mechanisms.
