Israeli telecommunications company Pelephone inaugurated a light display on Thursday that marks the ceasefire agreement that will see the return of the 48 hostages still in the Gaza Strip, 20 of whom are still reportedly alive.
The display, scheduled to be up until Sunday night, “symbolizes hope, embrace and national joy with the expected return of all the abductees to Israel soon,” according to Pelephone's statement.
The beam of light is visible to travelers on Highway 4 near the Morasha Interchange and to residents of the Gush Dan (Greater Tel Aviv) area.
At the same time, the inscription "Waiting for you at home" is projected onto the company's building, symbolizing the reunion of abductees with their families and the nation's hope for the deal's success.
Return of the hostages: What do we know?
The main information published is centered on the number of hostages' bodies that will return to Israel. Forensic teams at the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute have completed preparations to confirm the identities of 28 hostage bodies anticipated to return to Israel as part of Trump's plan to end the war in Gaza.
There is no confirmation of who the 20 hostages alive are, but the recent proof of life from some hostages and previous confirmations by authorities about the deaths of others allow to create a preliminary list.
Authorities have begun preparations for the return of the 20 living hostages and 28 deceased ones as part of Israel’s agreed-upon ceasefire deal with Hamas, as Israeli forces have withdrawn from parts of Gaza, and forensic teams are readying to identify the deceased.
The return of the hostages in US President Donald Trump's peace deal could already take place on Sunday, according to reports. Trump stated on Friday that he expects the hostages to be returned by Monday.
A senior official from the terror group told Agence France-Presse that they will begin releasing the hostages on Monday.
