Ukrainian troops rescued a Bactrian camel running free through eastern Ukraine after the humped animal escaped the Russian troops reportedly using it for their invasion, according to international media reports and footage of the camel.
The seven-foot-tall camel was recorded traipsing behind a white pick-up truck filled with Ukrainian soldiers.
The footage revealed the camel trotting past a damaged M-113 armored personnel carrier.
Ukrainian soldiers found the camel after they stormed the Russian position, according to The Sun.
Russian military relies on camels, donkeys
This is reportedly the second time it has become known that the Russian military was using camels in its invasion, after a Russian soldier was pictured riding one in February.
Bactrian camels are found across central Asia, and there are an estimated 10,000 in southern Russia.
The Russian Defense Ministry previously confirmed that it had transferred donkeys to the front lines to carry ammunition.
