US Senator Tommy Tuberville shares the final phone call Senator Lindsey Graham had with his staffer in a plea for help, Fox News said in an X/Twitter post on Tuesday.
"Listen, I'm having chest pains. I need to do something," Graham said to Tuberville's scheduler.
"No, that's the reason I called you," Graham said to the scheduler, who asked if he had called 911. The scheduler immediately called 911.
By the time the staffer reached Graham's office, 911 had already "knocked down the door" and was attending to him.
Graham had just returned from the NATO conference in Ankara, Turkey, with a bipartisan delegation of lawmakers, USA Today reported Sunday.
Graham was working tirelessly on many geopolitical projects, including Israeli-Saudi normalization
"Lindsey basically worked himself to death," Tuberville said of Graham's commitment to work, noting that he rarely took vacations and was constantly traveling for work.
Graham was scheduled for an appearance on NBC News's "Meet the Press" on Sunday morning and delayed seeking medical attention, saying, "I can't die now. I still need to do the Russia sanctions, get Iran sorted out and do Israeli-Saudi normalization," Fox News reported, citing Axios.
Lindsey Graham was also a staunch supporter of Israel.
"Israel has lost one of its greatest friends. America has lost a great patriot. I have lost a beloved friend," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement.
The senator's sister, Darline Graham Nordone, was appointed interim senator by South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster on Monday, and will serve the remainder of the term, which ends in early January.
