Suicide Squad actor Jared Leto has been accused by multiple women of inappropriate “predatory” behavior, including with teenage girls, according to multiple international media reports.
The 53-year-old actor/musician’s alleged behavior first came to light in a Saturday report by Air Mail in which nine women came forward about alleged past incidents.
Jared Leto accused of inappropriate behavior with 16-year-old girls
One woman, who was 16 during the alleged 2006 incident, told the paper that Leto grabbed her by the arm outside a Los Angeles cafe where he was seated with then-19-year-old actress Ashley Olsen.
“I looked down and it was Jared Leto,” the woman recounted to Air Mail. “We had a quick conversation, and he got my number.”
Leto allegedly went on to call the then-teenager and invite her to a party at his home. She claimed that Leto would continue to call her “always at one, two, three AM…and the conversation turned sexual. He’d ask things like ‘Have you ever had a boyfriend?’ ‘Have you ever sucked a d***’”
I don’t know if he was on drugs or what … It was the weirdest, grossest voice … [But] for me, it’s Jared, you know?” she shared.
Model Laura La Rue also shared an alleged encounter when she was 16 and at an event in Beverley Hills. She told the site that Leto watched her “intensely” before approaching and asking her age.
She said that after Leto learned she was 16, the pair exchanged contact information and began an email correspondence. Less than a year later, she visited his home, where she said Leto began acting inappropriately.
“I remember him teasing me the whole time I was there,” La Rue said, adding: “He was flirting with me. He’d lean in close, then pull away, like it was a game.”
During a later visit, La Rue shared that Leto had appeared before her completely naked.
“He just walked out, d*** out, like it was normal … I thought maybe this was just what adult men do,” she recounted.
A representative of Leto denied La Rues claims, and told Air Mail: “Their communications contain nothing sexual or inappropriate … and Ms La Rue later applied to work as Mr Leto’s personal assistant, further underscoring the absence of anything inappropriate in any of their interactions.”
La Rue denied ever making such an application.
Another woman claimed that Leto would ask her inappropriate questions when she was still a minor, including “Do any of the little boys you hang out with f*** you?”
The third woman alleged that when she turned 18, Leto“suddenly pulled his penis out and started masturbating…Then he walked over, grabbed my hand, and put it on him. He leaned in and said: ‘I want you to spit on it.’”
Reports of inappropriate behaviour can be dated as far back as 2012, when Allie Teilz, a Los Angeles-based DJ and music producer, posted on Facebook, “Youre [sic] not really in L.A. until Jared Leto tries to force himself on you backstage… In a kilt.. And a snow hat,” Air Mail reported.
“I was assaulted and traumatized by this creep when I was 17 … He knew my age and didn’t care. What he did was predatory, terrifying and unacceptable,” she later posted on Instagram.
Representatives for Leto have denied accusations of wrongdoing.
