The world’s largest car manufacturer is going head-to-head with the Chinese brands that are slowly taking over the Israeli market: The new C-HR+ will be priced in Israel starting at NIS 180,000. That is tens of thousands of shekels cheaper than the bZ4X previously sold here, although it is still more expensive than Chinese crossovers of similar size and even the Kia EV3.

The C-HR+ has no connection to the hybrid crossover of the same name, which is produced in Turkey and therefore its official import to Israel has been halted, and it is offered only through parallel import that manages to bypass Erdogan’s boycott.

With a length of 4.52 meters, a width of 1.87 meters, a height of 1.6 meters and a wheelbase of 2.75 meters, the new model is 17 cm shorter, 1 cm wider, 5 cm lower and its wheelbase is 10 cm shorter than the bZ4X, slightly larger than the BYD Atto 3, but smaller than the Deepal 05.

All trims include a 14-inch multimedia screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting with 64 colors as standard, a 6-speaker audio system as standard, and in higher trims a JBL system with 9 speakers, an amplifier and a subwoofer, along with an electrically adjustable driver’s seat with memory. There is also a dual wireless charging pad, a smart key, front and rear parking sensors, a rear camera and rain sensor, electrically folding side mirrors, and dual-zone climate control with heated front seats.

The specification includes two battery sizes and two powertrains.

MOTION trim (from NIS 180,000): Includes front-wheel drive and a 57.7 kWh battery, producing 167 hp, 0–100 km/h acceleration in 8.4 seconds and a driving range of up to 458 km (WLTP), 18-inch alloy wheels with wheel covers, a combination of fabric and leatherette upholstery, and a 6-speaker audio system.

VISION trim (from NIS 200,000): Upgrades to a 77 kWh battery and front-wheel drive, producing 224 hp, 0–100 km/h in 7.3 seconds and a range of up to 607 km. Additional equipment includes a power tailgate and rear tinted windows.

EXCLUSIVE trim (from NIS 230,000): Comes with the larger battery, all-wheel drive and a combined output of up to 343 hp, 0–100 km/h in 5.2 seconds and a range of up to 502 km. The equipment includes 20-inch lightweight wheels, a JBL audio system with 9 speakers, 360-degree cameras, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, a fixed panoramic roof and towing capacity of up to 1,500 kg. It also includes suede and leatherette combination upholstery.

Electric: Fast charging (DC) at up to 150 kW, allowing charging from 10% to 80% in about 28 minutes, and slow charging (AC) at 11 kW (22 kW in the top trim).

Safety: The vehicle has not yet been tested by Euro NCAP. The specification includes autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring and more.

The warranty is 3 years or 100,000 km for the vehicle, and 8 years or 160,000 km for the battery. Toyota will offer an optional extended warranty to 10 years or one million km, subject to an annual paid battery health check.

The price is relatively low for Toyota, but the Deepal 05 starts at NIS 150,000 and the refreshed BYD Atto 3 will cost less than NIS 160,000 when it arrives in Israel in June. The C-HR+ will rely on Toyota’s reputation for reliability and resale value, along with being the cheapest car in Israel offering a range of over 600 km.
