Epilady, the global pioneer in the field of hair removal, has developed a revolutionary technological platform (patented) that combines a digital camera, image processing software, and a targeting system inside compact beauty devices. The innovative platform, fully developed in Israel with an investment of $13 million, was first integrated into the Epilaser hair removal device. In the first stage, the platform was integrated into a home hair removal device – Epilaser, and these days clinical trials are being conducted on additional devices.
The use of an automatic targeting system that identifies the object and fires only at it is an international innovation. The system is based on the following elements:
- Advanced digital camera: A high-resolution imaging system that performs an accurate scan of the skin’s surface and identifies hair follicles in real time. The camera operates at high speed and provides precise data on the location and density of the hairs.
Internal computer and image processing: An advanced visual processing unit that analyzes the image in real time and creates an accuracy map of the hair roots. The advanced algorithms identify the difference between skin tissue and hair follicles and perform precise location calculations to direct the laser beam.
Targeting system: The system uses a real laser with a very small beam diameter, which is automatically and precisely directed solely at the hair roots. The targeting system prevents radiation in the areas between the hairs and on skin areas that do not require treatment.

Epilaser is equipped with an advanced camera and an internal computer, identifying the hair roots with high accuracy. Epilaser is a home device with real laser technology (and not “simulated” technology such as IPL) and is equipped with advanced safety mechanisms that prevent the activation of the laser beam in areas of the skin that do not require hair removal. The device is approved by leading regulatory and safety authorities: CE, FDA, and the Standards Institution of Israel.
The Epilaser is suitable for all skin tones (with devices of different wavelengths adapted to the skin tone), including dark skin, and allows sun exposure immediately after use. It is portable, charges via USB within 30 minutes, and offers painless treatment. Soon, a dedicated application will be launched, enabling monitoring of the treatment process, personalized recommendations, and smart reminders – to maintain an accurate routine and optimal results.
One of the significant advantages of using the Epilady device, beyond its proven efficiency, is the ability to be exposed to the sun during the treatment period. Therefore, there is no need to schedule treatments according to the season. In addition, the device is adapted for permanent hair removal on dark skin, which constitutes a breakthrough, since most existing devices, both home and professional, are not suitable for treatment on dark skin tones.
According to Epilady CEO Moshe Rosenthal: “Over the years, Epilady has led innovation in the field of hair removal, and now we are doing it again through the development of an advanced technological platform. In the past seven years, we have invested significant resources in developing this technology here, in Hatzor Haglilit, with a team of top engineers and software creators – all residents of the north. The most advanced technology in the world, in the beauty field, is the result of Israeli entrepreneurship and knowledge – our pride!”
Rosenthal adds: “These days, we are working on clinical trials for additional devices based on the same technological platform. The potential of the technology we have developed goes far beyond hair removal and can be used in other medical and aesthetic fields.”
