The international retail giant Carrefour continues its accelerated expansion in Israel and will open in the coming month four new “Carrefour Hyper” branches, which will strengthen its nationwide presence.

The branches will be located in Afula, Netivot, Jerusalem, and Ofakim, and the chain claims that they “will offer a wide shopping experience at competitive discount prices for the entire public.”

The move includes the purchase of three branches of the “Shefa Birkat Hashem” chain in Afula, Netivot, and the Talpiot neighborhood in Jerusalem, with a total investment estimated at about NIS 20 million. Joining them is the fourth branch in Ofakim, expected to open in the coming quarter. The new branches are large hyper branches with areas of 3,000–4,000 sq.m.

During the past year, Carrefour Israel completed the conversion and renovation of all Mega and Yeinot Bitan branches into the Carrefour format. The network’s expansion comes against the backdrop of Carrefour’s continued growth in Israel: In the first quarter of 2025 it recorded a net profit of NIS 5.2 million, compared to a loss of NIS 34 million in the corresponding quarter last year, with an increase in gross profitability to 30%.
