The global fintech company Airwallex, which offers a platform for payments and financial services for businesses and entered the Israeli market about two years ago, and football club Arsenal have announced a multi-year global partnership agreement. As part of the agreement, Airwallex will serve as the official financial platform of the club. Additionally, Airwallex will be the Presenting Partner of Arsenal’s pre-season tour in West Asia. The team departed on July 19 for Singapore, where Airwallex’s headquarters is located.
The collaboration will streamline all financial operations of Arsenal Football Club and support the club’s expansion into global markets. Airwallex will also provide financial services during the pre-season tour, as part of preparations for a long-term collaboration that will enhance the football club’s payment systems and other operational areas.
The agreement allows Airwallex to promote its brand and market the football club, including showcasing content to fans during men's Premier League and women's Super League matches at Emirates Stadium in London.
Juliet Slot, Chief Commercial Officer of Arsenal Football Club: “We are delighted to welcome Airwallex to the Arsenal family, and the brand will be introduced to the Gunners’ fans during the men’s team’s pre-season tour in Asia. Airwallex shares our values, including a drive for growth and success. We look forward to working closely with Airwallex in the coming years to streamline all our commercial activities in support of our growth and continued investment for long-term success.”
Jack Zhang, Co-founder and CEO of Airwallex: “Our partnership with Arsenal is a source of great pride for us. We are building the global banking system of the future, and therefore we work with brands and businesses that are committed to global operations, excellence, and innovation — qualities that are deeply embedded in Arsenal Football Club. We will support Arsenal in various ways, such as saving time and money on daily financial operations and creating a smoother payment experience for fans. We believe we will deliver real value to football, businesses, and fans worldwide.”
The partnership builds on Airwallex’s strong presence and broad customer base in Asia and was signed just weeks after the company completed a Series F funding round of $300 million, which valued it at $6.2 billion. The agreement with Arsenal was signed in the second year of Airwallex’s partnership with McLaren Racing, which competes in Formula 1, further strengthening Airwallex’s presence at the top of global sports.
Airwallex was founded in 2015 in Melbourne, Australia, and is one of the fastest-growing companies in the world in the field of payments and financial infrastructure. The company employs 1,800 people across 25 offices worldwide and plans to continue hiring additional employees in Israel and the Middle East during 2025.
