In the heart of a lush villa neighborhood in Ra’anana stands a unique penthouse, designed and styled by Tali Arinus. The outdoor space of the penthouse redefines everything we thought we knew about urban living. Here, under open skies and surrounded by rich vegetation, outdoor designer and owner of “Karkom” Studio, Shay David, created a terrace that is not just an addition to the home, but its vibrant core.

The penthouse includes two terraces, the larger of which is the southern one, spanning about 130 square meters. It unfolds like an island of nature and refined design, blending seamlessly with the urban landscape. It features a spacious outdoor living area, a TV corner, a dining area, a fully equipped outdoor kitchen, and a large pergola—all wrapped in spectacular Mediterranean greenery, including seasonal blossoms, dominant fruit trees such as avocado, lychee, and lemon, and abundant ornamental plants.

“From the start, it was clear that this terrace would be the central focus of life in the home,” explains Shay David. “The goal was to create an indoor-outdoor experience where the residents could host, cook, relax, and connect with nature—without compromising on modern comfort.”

One of the standout features is a smart screen concealed within the greenery, allowing technology to exist without disturbing the serene and natural feel of the space. Shading solutions, cozy furniture, and soft lighting create an environment the family uses from morning until evening. A second, northern terrace of about 50 square meters is connected to the bedrooms and serves as a more intimate nook for quiet relaxation or private gatherings.
