The Israeli summer is already here, bringing with it everything we know – heavy heat, blinding light, and a desire to feel lightness at home. During this time of year, when no one feels like starting major renovations, textiles can make the most significant difference.

“Textiles have an almost magical ability to change the atmosphere in a space – effortlessly, without mess, and without breaking walls,” says Ella Shlomov, textile designer and owner of the ELLA DECOR studio. “You can create change with the right approach, one that lightens the summer feel, the look, the softness, and the gentle movement with daylight, alongside the scorching sun.”

In recent years, curtains have become a true design element, not just a functional solution. A noticeable trend includes combining fabrics and gradient dyeing techniques, where the curtain color gradually shifts along its entire length. This is in addition to the classic, ultimate white curtains that flutter in the breeze. Moreover, there’s a clear preference for natural and organic materials – linen, heavy cotton, or soft blends – that offer a calmer, more pleasing look to the eye. “This is a summer that blurs the boundaries between indoors and outdoors, and the curtain helps soften the transition from a bright balcony to a shaded room,” explains Shlomov.

If you're looking for a quick design refresh, decorative pillows are also a spot-on solution, featuring rich textures, combinations of leather and fabric, and geometric patterns with a minimalist look. Floral and amorphous prints are giving way to clean, precise lines – just the way the Israeli consumer likes it.

During the long, hot summer days, the bedroom becomes a calming, airy, and inviting space. Choosing bedding becomes especially significant: Synthetic fabrics are less suitable for the season, and the clear recommendation is to opt for Egyptian cotton, light satin, or natural linen – fabrics that help regulate temperature and offer a soft and pleasant touch. “Sleep improves dramatically when there’s a pleasant touch against the skin. It’s something you feel from the very first night, and it becomes addictive,” says Shlomov.

Another trend gaining momentum this summer is the personalization of textile items – whether it’s made-to-measure curtains or pillows and bedding selected by specific fabric, shade, and texture. While ready-made solutions remain popular, more and more customers are choosing to design textiles tailored exactly to their personal needs – with special embroidery, personal names, nicknames – creating harmony between spaces and adding a personal touch.
